CDT Gateway Community

Anaconda became a Continental Divide Trail Gateway city in 2018 and was honored to be recognized as the second Gateway City in Montana. Towns and counties designated as official CDT Gateway Communities are those that CDTC recognizes as friendly to trail users and dedicated to the completion and protection of the trail. Gateway Communities help to provide visitors a great experience and to continue our work completing, promoting, and protecting the Continental Divide Trail.

CDT Gateway Communities span the length of the trail. There’s always a new adventure just around the corner!

Adventure Camp

ATS and the city of Anaconda offer a simple place to stay for our CDT hikers and bikers. Located in beautiful Washoe Park, this camp is situated perfectly for a rest, a re-stock, and a re-gather before taking to the trails again.  The facility is available June 1st to September 31st. Our camp provides 24/7 access to indoor communal area, lockers, electricity, wi-fi, microwave, bikes, hiker box and refrigerator. Three different very affordable options for showering are nearby. The nearest option is Washoe Pool, located in the same parking lot as the ATS Adventure Camp.

Trail Angels

While the town of Anaconda is situated at the base of the Pintlars and the foothills of Mount Haggin, there are quite a few road miles to navigate when trekking in and out of the mountains.  A helpful group of generous community members, known as Trail Angels, are willing to give rides to CDT hikers as they pass through.  View the pdf list below to make a connection to help you out on your route.

ATS Camp Facility

Our simple cabin is free to use for CDT travelers and is meant to be a place to get out of the elements and situate yourself as you stock up for your next segment.  View a pdf file of our town map to help orient you to local options.
